So, I stumbled across this article "Why you should design for open source"
from last month. And I really liked it.
Quote:The author makes an argument about why you should design for open source. Saying that she mainly did so in the past to build her portfolio and to give back to the community. She also points out that doing so helped her a lot since she had to look at a few things from a different perspective and working on large projects was a great experience for her.
She concludes with the statement that any open source project can use every bit of help and you should help.
Now, I myself can really see her point.
Developing and designing thing for free greatly helps build your reputation.
How do you guys think about releasing something open source? Do you feel it helps the community and gets you more well known or is it just helping all the leeches out there?
