What do you mean to compensate for energy costs?

I assume your talking about Bitcoin mining? If your talking about mining bitcoins then I would check bitcoinwisdom mining calculator to let you put in your energy costs, along with the price of hardware, etc.

If your talking about investing directly, then I say that yes there is still lots to be made. IMO
