There is a theory out there that Evil Morty is the Morty that we see in episode 1. As in, if Rick wasn’t there for forty years as per the show’s description, he couldn’t have memories of Morty.
Thus switching of Morty’s could explain many lines like “A cocky Morty can be problems for everyone” or the fact that he was looking for a fresh start in episode one with the neutrino bomb and that the e1 Morty had no issues whatsoever with going on an adventure and being in a spaceship.
Here is my theory: The original Rick from the earth we see in the series is none other than Simple Rick, we know he was taken to the citadel when Beth was a child and that could explain the he left forty years ago part.
The Rick we know and love had helped raise a Morty, making him intelligent and cocky, turning him to evil Morty. He was looking for a fresh start and went to Simple Rick’s reality, there to stay for the rest of the series.
This also explains why evil Morty has so much hate on C137 and why Rick cried as if in regret when he saw his memories of evil Morty as a kid.

Your thread is unreadable. Black text is unreadable since background is black too. Anyways, i believe that the Morty we see now is the original C-137 Morty. I'm pretty sure Evil Morty is just another Morty from another universe.
