I think because our lungs is already affected by smoking so it's easier for covid to make it worse.

Yes it is true, the explanation is the smoke(nicotine) decreases the local immunity of the lungs and also paralyse the cilia cells involved in cleaning the bronchus.Respiratory capacity is also reduced to these people.

simple, their lungs arent as strong as non-smokers, the virus causes respiratory problems.

COVID19 is a virus that affects the respiratory system so, obviously, smokers are the most sensitive ones to suffer the worst consequences of the virus.

i smoke and it doesnt hit me harder, why should it hit the smokers harder?

probably because smoking has already damaged their lungs, and its harder for them to breath even without the virus
