The anime that broke your heart?

Anohana, A Silent Voice and many people say it's overrated, but Kimi No Na Wa.

I think Clannad takes the cake for sad anime that is now timeless for being so sad. I am so happy the VN was ported to Switch, it is so worth it!

My other favorite is Galaxy Express 999, totally a blast from the past (1978). So many episodes create a sense of dread and emptiness that is hard to describe. The show is very slow and stylized. I personally think it has aged very well considering it is 42 years old

Big Fish & Begonia is very good anime that broke my heart.

Wonderful movie. I'm glad I watched this. The animation, the dubbing and directing is magnificent. It has affected me so much to the point that I really didn't like the protagonist.

Akame ga kill.... was the first anime I watched that made me feel sad for WEEKS. I genuinly believed everyone would come back to life just to have my heart crushed into a million pieces...

oe no katachi and clannad. man, it touched me very hard. i could expect something emotional, but i didn't expect it would be THAT emotional. these series are close to me
