should i go to art school

ive been interested at going to art school should i go?

in america? no. anywhere else in the world, yep.

^ this though. I think american art focused schools are a WASH unless you just really learn from intense classroom settings.

from personal experience, it's basically just paying for a guaranteed job at the end and for meeting people in the industry. everything in a generic art school you could pretty much learn through youtube or free online courses.

Art school has been overhyped as far as I have heard from bunch of Students and Professionals in the business. People have been in the industry for years being self-taught via books, online courses, internship etc.

for me it isn't really necessary if you don't have to money for college cause all the resources you need is scattered all over the internet but hey that's just me do what you think will help you improve. good luck!

Don't know what country you're in or what school you want to go to so depends. If you're debatingbetween doing art and a career that's deemed more stable, you should definitely listen to yourself above all else and know what has the best longevity for you mentally. Art education is really all self-taught + on the internet. but there will always be a factor that you'll miss if you just train yourself and rely on tutorials and that's people, you learn extremely fast by being surrounded by like-minded and talented people. So school would begreat for that but if you can place yourself in a situation where that's replicated or school isn't important that would be ideal.

Na just keep making art and eventually a style/ pattern will come up in your drawings that you can see. Art school teaches the fundamentals like the gestalt laws of design with homework type of excerxises imo

Im in art school in Europe it is so much cheaper than in the US. I dont think it's really necessary actually there are many ways you can learn by yourself, but art schools are just a great way to meet people who do the same thing and to create a network for the future.

I'd think about your dedication to the field and whether or not you believe that art is your passion. It's something to consider to have a degree to fall back on if it doesn't work out for you.
