I differentiate it by saying laptop and desktop since a laptop is a computer.

i think it depends what are you going to do, but a pc is better if you are going to use it for gaming

computer is better if u know u will never need to go out with it. Laptop is better is u move often. But the best is to have a good computer and a cheapest laptop for when you need to move

Right now, I would say laptop, but thats because my laptop currently has a better graphics card than my PC. :-(
