that's what I thought. I sadly can't help you for the coding, however I think you could make a redirection to the DDoS verif service and add there a html of the loading screen is and activate the anti-DDoS thingy there then redirect to the site after verification.

I'm not some pr0 ddos anti kid but I'm pretty sure the splash screen is not even hosted on the same server as the forum or whatever it is you are running...

It should at least load something to have a loading screen

why a timer? thats dumb add some js check and maybe run a php script silently in task to do some behaviour checks and against an api to determine how likely their ip is related to spam

Sorry if this is a bit late, but it's a Nginx Reverse Proxy. Basicaly you get another server and redirect your main web server through there. While doing that you can serve a HTML file.

I'm guessing there are a lot of ways to do this, but this is one way.
