Where do you guys have it installed? I'm just curious because the app is probably writing music on the drive and I'm worried to damage my SSD. Let me know where you have it and thanks for the help. Smile

You could move it to your HDD but you can however change how much the Data file fills by editing the file named "pref" in the Roaming files

C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\prefs

But FIRST,
Close Spotify
go to:

C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Local\Spotify\Data

and delete all files inside of it. This is that stored data.
THEN, go to:

C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\prefs

Edit it with any program, even wordpad (don't use notepad) and enter this option in at the bottom of the list:

storage.size=*desired amount of megabytes*

Here's mine set for just over 1 gig:

storage.size=1280

Save the file, and then you can reopen Spotify. It will however need to store some kind of cache. But 1gb can be a lot for just music. And the IO can be a lot of extra IO for the SSD. Also epic privacy browser has a youtube download plugin built into the browser for free and I switched to that and have all my favorite albums and playlists saved to my Database.
Essence in the mist, that is the shadow with the grip.

I would recommend using your HDD for spotify. SSD for me just solely stores my OS, you can set your default installation path to your hd

Mine is on one of my SSDs, however I've got my offline music directory set to a mechanical HDD.
You can change that in the advanced settings.

I'm not really bothered about my SSD, I'd like to think it wasn't going to die because of Spotify. My laptops only have SSDs and that doesn't stop be from using it.
It appears this is a thing people do.

I use mine on my HDD. Unless you have a lot of extra space on your SSD and nothing else you wanted on there, I don't really see the point.
I usually use my SSD's for Games, Virtual Machines, and certain productivity applications, which Spotify is not one of those.

It just depends on what you're preferences are though really. Writing songs to it will not damage your SSD, it's much more resilient than I think you're giving it credit. It's not really any different than writing files or movies...
