There's a military method I use a lot.
I just lay on my back and focus on my breathing, i'll go from my toes to my head saying to myself in my head "Toes, relax" syncing it with my breathing. Once i relax everthing I think of a nice place, usually i picture myself on the water in a canoe just enjoying the view. usually takes me 3-4 minutes to fall asleep from perfectly awake.
If all else fails. take 400mg of advil and just lay back and wait 10 minutes. you'll be out cold.
