what happens after death?

Just my random thought on death but I believe once it happens your soul is evaporated and you receive a new body as a new life form either human or animal. But as human all memory is erased and your soul technically restarts life over without you even knowing you had a past life. I always think that the things i missed or miss in this life I will learn and be better in the next even though I wont have a memory of the failure from this life. If that makes sense lol?
