My uncle is rich off of bitcoin

while reading this post, i understand that it is said that bitcoin was created in 2009, but i also wondered was this the first time this coin has been used, and it was never used on the dark web at all, or did it go by another name as he suggested, i am wondering. i did a search on bitcoin and yes it did say 2009, but it seems like its more to it then that
