I don't get why you said that we are not.

We are subtracting the archer itself which has the weight of 10 kg. I have explained why.
Still I will try to explain it to you.

Lets say you buy 1 kg worth of potatoes. Now can you subtract 100 grams of onions which doesn't exist?
To subtract 100 grams of onion you need them with potatoes in the first place. You cannot subtract something if it isn't there.
To put it simply pekka and archer are standing together on a weighing machine. Their total is 1000, archer steps aside and then it is 990.
