So I saw this post on facebook. And I was heavily criticized based on my answer.

[Image: 13043518_10153653291348471_6624347421546...e=57B4B5C5]

Now the thing with this is people just look at numbers and immediately type in the answer as if it was very simple. Actually it is simple but people are missing the important part. Most people answered 1050 and my answer was 1040. I have a good reason for it.

Lets name barbarian A, archer B and pekka C.

A + A + A = 120. 3A = 120. A = 120/3. So A = 40.
Now B + A = 50. B + 40 = 50. B = 50 - 40. B = 10.
And last is C - B = 990. We know B = 10. And if we are subtracting B from C that means they both are together.
And their combined sum is 1000. Therefore C = 990. People are mistaking C = 1000 just because they think they are subtracting 10 kg.
But we are not just subtracting 10 kg but an archer which is of 10 kg. So A = 40, B = 10 and C = 990.
Therefore A + C + B = 1040.

After getting criticized even here I think I need to further explain my own answer.
I am using the image as the base for this logic puzzle. As you can see that it is pekka - archer.
Then pekka and archer needs to be together for the archer to be subtracted. If you get a pimple you can remove it but if the pimple does not exist you cannot remove it. And just like that I think that pekka and archer are together and then they were seperated. If you use just the numbers/variables your answer will be
1050 but then the illustration serves no purpose. My answer is according to the image and simple logic. Again pimple needs to exist on your face to be removed from your face.

Let me know what you think.

Miscalculated.

Tried again, got 1050.

I don't understand this part of your explanation:

"People are mistaking C = 1000 just because they think they are subtracting 10 kg.

But we are not just subtracting 10 kg but an archer which is of 10 kg."

I mean we are subtracting the weight of an archer, which is 10 kg.
I don't get why you said that we are not.

We are subtracting the archer itself which has the weight of 10 kg. I have explained why.
Still I will try to explain it to you.

Lets say you buy 1 kg worth of potatoes. Now can you subtract 100 grams of onions which doesn't exist?
To subtract 100 grams of onion you need them with potatoes in the first place. You cannot subtract something if it isn't there.
To put it simply pekka and archer are standing together on a weighing machine. Their total is 1000, archer steps aside and then it is 990.

Thanks for your explanation. Now I get it!
Okay so now your result seems to be logical.

I got 1050.

Your explanation is pretty logical so I won't criticize it, but my answer still sticks.

You can stick to it. But I say its wrong. B and C needs to be together in order to get separated. Don't you think?
B and C are on a weighing machine. B leaves and C looks at its weight and it is 990. Simple as that.

C is wrong. You aren't subtracting them from 'eachother'. You're subtracting the archer's weight from the P.E.K.K.A.

Sui is correct.

Please elaborate as to how you assumed that you aren't subtracting their weight from each other?
All you're doing is substituting an Archer for their Weight, Barbarian for theirs, and a PEKKA for theirs. You aren't taking it literally.

Image illustrates Archer being subtracted from Pekka. I don't need to say more.
I don't know if they were fused together or something.

Did you read my reply to evilcodes? If not then read it and if you did it is pretty simple explanation.

Barber/3 = 40 KG

Archer + Barber = 50 KG
So 50 - Barber = 10 KG
Archer = 10 KG

Pekka = 1000 KG because Pekka - 10 KG = 990 KG

Barber = 40 KG
Archer = 10 KG
Pekka = 1000 KG

1000 + 40 + 10 = 1050 KG

Was it that hard?
