After the success of clonewars rp servers, people decided making a ton of (insert popular tv/movie/video game franchise) RPs. I think a lot of this has to do with many good modders growing out of gmod. Its just time for people to learn how to create their own addons and gamemodes. I think it will take some time. Things like script fodder are just delaying the inevitable.
