The issue isn't that it isn't simple enough, the issue is that it is simple, which makes it hard to express properly. (In this case I'd say you failed on the expression part, not the simplifying part.)

Jesus I thought you were dead. I didn't know what I was doing for the logo. Client wanted space, I thought of a rocket, planet and atom looking things. Slapped them all together and boom. Looked like a tree to me lol So I went with it.

I get what you mean now. I like my design's simplicity/complexity how it is though.
