They hold a bias towards Steam because Valve as a publisher hasn't "wronged" the PC Gaming community near as many times as EA (Origin) or Ubisoft (Uplay) has. Couple that with the fact that Steam has a vastly larger catelog than both Uplay and Origin combined, and that Valve makes it a lot easier for an Indie developers to publish thier games on the platform and you have a pretty convincing set of reasons to opt for Steam versus any other platform right now.
