The premise was that Mike was a fake lawyer because he hadn't passed the bar, and eventually he got found out. The show really jumped the shark and got ridiculous - it was always campy, but it just got to be a bit much in the later seasons with people doing things that would get them arrested in 3 seconds, yet getting away with it.
