[1.14.4] Transparent blocks?

Hi,
I wanted to make a few blocks (pressure plates) have transparent parts, however apparently that can no longer be done, by simply editing the texture.
How would I go about accomplishing this?
Is it possible for different types of plates to have different transparent sections? Edit: To clarify, I want the textures to be partially transparent.

You need a edditor that can save transparent pictures and then you can make the textures i think.

Get a minecraft texture editor and take out the pressrue plate imnage and replace it with the parts that you want taken out
