Keyloggers are designed to monitor what happens (especially what's being typed) on computers. Using this kind of tool on your own device is perfectly legal but you need owner approval to run it on other ones.

You're advised to avoid mainstream email providers like Gmail or Yahoo as they have features to detect automated logins and block them. If you're going to use your email address to receive keylogs it is better to go for less known email providers (e.g. local ones).
