An on-off switch would be mandatory, indeed.

I'm not supporting this idea until I receive this award. It seems like a good idea, given that since you don't write request threads for user owned awards, this is the only way to check outside of going onto your profile.

I agree, it can be really frustrating when you find out that you have an award for 2 months that you didn't know about lol

Well, 2 Months. You can always see it in your postbit and on your profile.

The profile thing is understandable, though.
