If you check the reply I made on your other thread, it explains the reason behind bitcoin. Litecoin is basically the same, but not as popular.

No, PayPal is a service where a company promises to hold some money and make some payments for you, while cryptocurrencies are a replacement for regular currency. Or at least they're supposed to be.
