- I'm the head developer for a server (I won't name it because I don't want it to seem like I'm advertising.)
I'm curious about how to attract players? I have a very clean, nice, server name that presents itself rather well in GMOD; though players hardly EVER connect, I've had at MOST 3 players connect at once (INCLUDING myself)
Any idea how to attract more players?

I own a server myself, my best guess would be, to have your server at the point where you want to spend time on it, advertise it verbally by word of mouth to friends and have your server simple to play but also unique at the same time. If you time your server to the recent death of a server community similar to yours you might get a few as well

Have a bunch of friends play on the server, but act like you aren't friends. Make everyone act like a random user. This makes it look like the server already has a community going and will attract more players which eventually will become your actual community.

This is also a gutter I am starting out with. Having to stay on the server almost 24/7 on the small chance another will join and stay enough to attract more players.
