Any fps boosting tips for Gmod?

I have Athlon X3 and my fps sometimes drops to unplayble 20 fps..
And tips on how to improve it

You will have to consider turning off water reflections (Massive lag) and turn all settings to low.
2ND BEST THING TO IMPROVE IT IS DOING FPS_MAX 60 in console and it will instantly improve your gmod FPS.

Some addons, launch parameters and graphics settings

Close all applications ur not using and put ur setting low if thats not working it might be time for a upgrade

mat_specular 0 , try it, it disables reflections on models, textures and etc

Just change a few things in settings,
go to graphics and just lower to the best preset you think is good for FPS.
You can also just set some launch options through steam.

gmod is potato pc friendly.. or not

I would suggest turning down all graphic settings, and setting the priority from gmod to high in task manager, the process is called hl2.exe.
