I never grew up with the original show, does anyone know if the show is respecting the OG ?

I haven't seen the OG show either but based on my opinions of the new show and from what I've heard online, yes it is respecting the OG. I think a lot of people were initially skeptical based on the appearance changes, but the show is pretty good. Most of the OG voice actors returned as well which is pretty cool.

X-Men 97 is fearless. It makes bold, daring choices in service of its characters above all else...it has cemented itself not only as the definitive version of these characters but, dare I say, the crown jewel of Marvel Studios.

I don't like the animation style in this show. I am one of the few people who actually liked the animation style of the original X-Men show; I appreciated the irregular, inconsistent, hand-drawn-ness of it. It made the show feel organic and real. But something about the animation in this new show bugs me. It's too clean and perfect. It lacks personality. There is no style to the artwork of the show; it is just boring, perfectly-realistic human figures. It looks like something created by a computer; which it is, because it is cel-shaded animation. Cel-shaded animation can be good, though -- as the Spider-verse movies have demonstrated. However, part of the merit of the Spider-verse movies is their deliberate imperfectness, non-photorealistic art style, and elaborate texturing. But the cel-shaded animation is just uncomfortably perfect and clean and textureless. It's just boring to look at. All things considered, I'd still rather have the animation in this show than the animation style used throughout the majority of season 5 of the original X-Men show, which was horrible. But this show's animation still is nowhere near as pleasing to my eyes as the best animation appearing in the original X-Men show.

If you're an xmen fan definately watch it. It's the first time in an x-men screening media that they did justice to cyclops. He was always percieved as inferioir to the more popular mutants but he's the leader for a reason

I’m really excited about X-Men '97! The original X-Men: The Animated Series was such a huge part of my childhood, so seeing it come back with the same style and continuity is amazing. I’m curious to see how they’ll continue the story and whether they’ll introduce any new characters or focus on the classic team. The '90s animation style was iconic, and I hope they stay true to that while still giving it a modern twist. What are you most looking forward to in the series?
