BTC won't be good unless you got thousands of dollars to invest in it. Go for altcoins instead.

You can find the general price of BTC and other altcoins on CoinMarketCap. As for mining, it would require you to spend a decent amount for a good computer.

Mining in any currency is not profitable, it will give you a low amount of money(Less than a dollar per day) so you should not.

I agree with kurowa with one exception, a lot of people who mined bitcoin managed to get quite a lot of it near the start (less people in the pool), so they made quite a nice profit. I agree its probably not worth the investment now though, especially if you buy specialized hardware
