Probably ETH. Eth can still 10x but bitcoin not really. By the same logic also Dash.

There are plenty of statistic sites that show you real time which tokens are best to mine on the ETH network. I can't remember off the top of my head the name of the services, but I'm sure it's an easy google.

I usually mine ETH with my GPU and Monero with my CPU. But it is really hard to find pools that are willing to support small time mining these days so I usually end up not even making what I spend on power. Especially monero pools. If I were to recommend a starter, GUI miner, I would highly recommend nicehash despite the recent hacks which are very common among pools. Here is a link to their app https://miner.nicehash.com/
It essentially benchmarks your pc to find out what currency makes the highest return for your hardware, then allows you to start mining. All pay is payed in BTC and they are good about paying on time and not overcharging with stupid fees.
Essence in the mist, that is the shadow with the grip.

Right now might not be the best time to get into crypto-currencies, with the difficulty rising for just about any coin hitting the market. I'd be interested in seeing if anyone could further ASICs, but that'd be a stretch.

it depends on what kind of crypto is growing right now. go for it if it's surely to go up and stable.
