I've been using Transmit ever since I found out about it, though it is mac only. For windows I'd prob stick with filezilla. Can't expect too much of a good ui out of windows apps :[

Smart FTP has always worked wonders for myself, tried a few in my time - but seemed to have stuck to it.

Instead of using a ftp client, you can use sftp on linux in your file browser (maybe you can do the same on windows too), it's the best actually because it'll leave you with all the regular operations of an explorer.
