I don't really make games anymore, but I used mostly Unreal Engine and Unity

Try looking up Unreal Engine 4 or Unity. I think both very useful and good for beginner!

For me, you have Unity and UE4 to make good games, but you have somes good software too like Godot

unreal engine 4 is good for input in my optinion. I m looking forward to unreal engine5, it looks very beatiful

It's not the tool, it's how you use it. Unless you're going for something very specific that only a certain engine can do, you're better off going with whatever is cheap and easy to start with. Yes there's a lot of garbage made with Unity, but that's incompetence from people who just want to make a quick buck, there are also plenty of great Unity games made by people with originality, passion, talent and skill. That's what sets any game apart from the rest.
