My fave is Unreal Engine 4. I've tried Unity and always come back to UE4. I prefer coding in C++.

Try looking up Unreal Engine 4 or Unity. Those are the big ones at the moment

By the way, if you're up to make a 2D game - the best choise would be GameMaker Studio 2, I believe.

Unreal 4 is by far the most advanced and most friendly user of all game engines an indie developer can have access to. Have the best visual scripting, variety of tools to optimize and profile your games in the editor. Also the best looking PBR out there. And it's FREE.

Unity is a mess in a lot of aspects, and you have to script things. To some programmers is fine, but for artist, and in general is not friendly at all.

Top two engines (that are available to public) are: Unity and Unreal Engine 4 (UE4 for short). One thing to note about Unity is that it is very programmer friendly but not so much for the designers. On other hand, UE4 is very friendly to designers but not so much for programmers. As for graphics...both are able to push very high graphical fidelity. At the end, it does not mater what "tool" you use but rather what works for "you". I would say try both and see for yourself.

I think the easiest is buildbox, and then construct2 or 3, but the best is unity3D.

I personally really like unreal due to the graphics and have only really used it but I will say unity has a bigger asset community and more forums and support but overall I still give Unreal it due to the amount of time that can be saved doing graphic work and etc but each to their own.

Unreal Engine 4 is number ONE for me. Godot Engine is also really good.

Unity was never a thing for me, Maybe I should use it more. But i'm currently really happy With Unreal Engine 4 at the time.

UE4 is kinda easy to use, maybe I'm just used to it. But using too much Blueprints make it harder to go back to other Program-Languages.. only negative to me. ButBlueprints are really nice to use.
