Personally I like to use faithful and patrix texturepacks, and if you really want to have some creazy details maybe use stratum!
But it really comes down to a personal tast as to what you actually think looks good and what your computer can run.

I really enjoy time deo's 2k pack, looks absolutely stunning for 1.8 pvp!

I'm using Patrix at the moment. I quite like the change from default.
I was keen on using Umsoea, which is great, but only for a limited selection blocks with a very particular aesthetic.
