Best minigame single/multiplayer/lan for playing in between queue times?

I don't like to socialize much with my friends between queue times. What games do you play single/multiplayer in between queues (ideally multiplayer so I can engage my friends instead of idle chat)?
Ideally, something light and that can be paused as I don't like to stop a game and lose progress just because the queue has ended.
If you don't have a game, but wishedfor such a game that existed and have some general ideas about it, please describe it.
(if multiplayer... ideally being able to play with 2-5 players)
