Best way to build a City in Survival?

I am currently building a City in Survival and have 2 Houses so far i am slowly getting out of ideas. What can i build? or what does every city in Minecraft have?

Start building buildings that focus on tasks instead of houses. Make a barn for some animals, a refinery to do ores, a building for access to a mine, automated food, etc.

After a while you can build a transport station too to send out to far locations via Minecart and pick stuff up, etc. Automation is something you can really sink some time into. Just have fun :D

layout your city using wool. Create the base of each building using wool to layout your city and get an understanding of what you're going for!

When it was not interesting for me to survive in minecraft, there are too few dungeons

I personally always like to have a friend or two help me out when building cities or things in survival because then it really adds some differences between the builds if you let them go off of their imagination. If you would be building it solo then i don't personally have any specific strategy except for try to make things look different so it's not just like seeing the same house or the same bridge as you see everywhere else in the build. Just have fun with it and it will come out great. ^_^
