When I was selling an item the other day on the Steam Community Market, I couldnt figure out how the transaction fees/taxes to the developer and Steam was calculated.
There is a ?Steam Fee which is 5%, and then there is a?game specific fee. For CSGO, Dota 2 and TF2 the game specific fee is at 10%. This gives usa total of 15%.
I read on the internet that you just had to subtract this from the Buy price. This just didnt quite give the same results that I was seeing in Steams own calculator:

If you take 100 andsubtract 15% you will get 85. So I figured out the math was wrong.
Now if you want to calculate the right VAT on items in real life, you have to divide it instead, and this is the same technique you will want to use here.
So lets say you want to sell an item for $100 and wanna find out how much you will receive. The cuts/fees/taxes for Steam and the developer is 15% as mentioned before. So you will need to take 100 and divide it by 1.15: 100/1.15 = 86,96. Almost there, but not 86,97 yet. The reason is that Steam always take a 0.01 cut besides the 15%, so you have to subtract 0.01 as well.
The final equation and how to calculate the Steam market fees:
Price/1.15-0.01 = what you will receive after market fees.

I hope this helped you!
I am not a math genius or anything, so if you find anything wrong with my explanation, please let me know.
