Okie, so I know I'm late to this party, but as the actual coder of Ven0m I suppose people could be understandably uneasy as I've marketed Crypting tools in the past.
This is not, nor ever will be, a virus. Period.

So, first of all, I would never try to do something this stupid, I wouldn't risk my name, and I would never publicly release something like this to infect people, it's a matter of pride as a coder, and the fact that online all you have is your word, if people can't trust your word than you've got nothing.

Second, Ven0m is obfuscated, this could account for some detections, however most that I saw (I only briefly glanced at it), are claiming it to be a dropper, this is because that it does indeed drop it's injector and bootstrapper inside the temp folder. And fundamentally this does act like a trojan, it communicates to a central server, sends and receives data, and acts upon the data it receives. And surprise, I just described a trojan. However, the server CANNOT force the client to do anything, and I'm willing to post the source of the sharedlib to prove it. There are no delegates in there for the server to execute on the client.

Third, people have actively tried to submit us to VAC, VirusTotal, and other popular hack/virus detection sites. We even have our own classification on a popular av (Can't remember the name, but it comes up as "TOOL::HACK::Ven0m". You have to understand that if there is even one function that it deems "malicious" like us writing bytes to the temp folder, and it can't verify what we're writing into the temp folder at scan time, as Ven0m gets the injector data from the server, all it sees is that we're writing an undefined set of data into the temp folder, and obviously that could be used maliciously.

But above all we have a community, any and all virus reports have been resolved, and we don't have a single actualy report of us being a virus, anywhere. And with over 3000 registered members, you can bet that everyone would be flipping shit if they did find a virus, Many people have decompile, we've been cracked, we've been leaked, and nowhere will you find any mention of a virus.
