I couldn't really find a section to post this, so sorry if this is the wrong section.

I'm looking to buy my first car, I'm 18 so not looking for anything too crazy or expensive. I'll probably be able to put 3k (CAD)maybe 3.5k down. I'm just looking for suggestions trying to find a reliable car that's nice looking and comfortable. I've been looking at Acura specifically TSX or the TL. I also have been looking into the Toyota Avalon. Just looking for suggestions of cars that are reliable but also don't looklike grandpa cars.

Honda Accord, Toyota Corolla...

What part of Canada are you in? 2WD is fine for urban/highway driving, but if you're out in the boonies where the roads aren't paved or plowed as often you'll probably want something 4WD to get through winter.

Life is like a box of chocolates, it doesn't last as long for fat people.

I would say a VW Golf or Polo are great cars to start with, when I just acquired my driver's license, my mom let me drive with her VW Polo and it was great.

2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, or a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS should be fine. Unless you wanted an automatic.

Was also thinking of a 2002-2004 Lancer, you have any experiences with them?

I don't have experience behind the wheels but I rode them before and the ride is really smooth.

You'd better buy a decent car otherwise in 2-3 years you'll find you've spent more time repairing it than what it's price.

May be try to spend a bit more money and get a new one. You can easily use it for more than 5 years easily. I prefer Hyundai cars personally.
