I think that if a person likes the website he must leave the ads on. It helps the owners to continue the project.

Whether it be a game server, business, website. Whatever.
If you aren't able to at least pay a bit of it out of pocket, rather than relying on donations. Don't start it imo.

Definitely a great share. But I agree with Aoki, you need to have funds to start a site instead of relying on other peoples hard earned money.
