Consequences with leaked addons

There is always possibilities with adding leaked addons, but only if you use something that's not guaranteed safely, like a DRM thing. Otherwise i think most of the other leaked addons should be generally safe to use.

Some leaked addons can have backdoors or sometimes you can find on bad servers addon with a virus and it can broke you computer

that why when you download any file or something on the web you need to look at the code html java php etc... make sure there no backdoor most of the time the backdoors are email or ref. link to download a virus etc... be careful out there lol it a whole new world info.highway

Do you guys know any programs to check for back doors? or ways to find them because I aint all that skilled in code.

If you have backdoors, then your server could be hacked, i use grepwin to search txt/lua files for hostile code

Yes I"m agree with you but if you look in your addon files you can see if the addon is backdoored or not ^^

i dont think any legal action would be taken.
that would just be a dumb move

It's really easy for someone to hide malicious code within LUA scripts, so be careful.

If the user that bought a script and was later banned on GMod Store, all of the scripts may be used to break down servers, that happens with VCMod and some other I am not sure which ones exactly though.
