What’s the most prominent Crypto Currency in the world right now is it Bitcoin or something I haven’t heard of?

By market cap, it's definitely BTC (bitcoin). Another by name recognition is ethereum, for which there are programming applications you can do on top (in addition to being used for "Currency" and "buying purposes").
