This isn't a bad idea, but a moderator would be required, otherwise things will probably escalate quickly.

Honestly, the forums activity doesn't the support the need for a new section entirely; therefore the proposal itself would result in a fiasco. The debate tag doesn't sound like a bad idea, it would give users the power to make their post selection even more broad , which is never a bad route to take.

All in all, a new debate section should be a no; off the jump. The debate tag is..well, debatable.
