Where I live, offbrand food is cheaper than the popular brands. I find that theyare made with basically the same ingredients and therefor taste similar.
Which do you prefer and can you tell the difference?

Some of the things that are off brand i think tastes MUCH better!, when im skint ill go to a cheap crappy supermarket and the things i end up getting end up much better in my opinion! Weekly going for the shopping will we go for a cheap supermarket, then go to a big one for the fruit an veg!
Glad to be back Ez

It depends in my opinion since I think it's mostly placebo at least for me, if I know it's offbrand beforehand I will look for reasons to confirm that, but in a blind test I don't think I could tell that much of a difference but this is only for drinks, and depending on the product there could be huge variations.

Didn't get the problem at all. Mm, i prefer home-made food, so... I mean i always eat home-made food, and at my place is an extreme competition for prices, so brands mean nothing at all.
And for me, basically, it is nonsense to buy eggs of "X" brand, just because of brand, when i can get similar eggs of "Z" brand for lower cost. The only way to compete here for food brands is to make an uniqe high-quality food. If there is an cheaper analog, no one will buy more expensive crap because of brand.
Well, I'm for cost-effiency things, so it was my humble opinion.

It depends what it is. My local Tesco sausages contain more meet than the more expensive brand but they're mayo is cheap and crap

We have a store chain called Aldi in Europe and it has a lot of off-brand products, a lot of Aldi's products I prefer to the brand names. Almost can't tell a difference to the real thing, also buying off-brand products helps me save up money.
