100% will happen, we are just violent race and all these hot headed nerds are ruling class now.

a 3rd world war would be the last, no way people with power would refuse to use nuclear weapons

I don't think so, there is too much raw power around the countries, so I think there is going to be just these proxy wars.

No, if there was going to be a 3rd world war it would have happened during the Cold War era, nowadays the ideological differences are much less severe so at worst there might be some new proxy wars happening between US/Russia/China but certainly no direct war between those powers.

i sure do hope it wont happen, planet is more important for now, but greedy assholes will always exist.
