i personally try not to rely on templates but im not as well versed in web shit as fdigl so sometimes i get lazy but let me tell you working on your finished product that you built from scratch maintaining it and improving will be over all easier cause you know what you're looking at and where you need to go. With editing templates a lot of people leave loose ends just by wiping half the page and replacing some text. So from the bottom up is definitely the way unless you're just trying to get a fairly functional website that has a basic task and you really don't care about looking like 100000 other people using the same template. When you click on a website you can often tell who used templates and who didn't. Good luck creating!

Hello,
I am new to web creation and have a doubt. After learning HTML CSS Js PHM SQL Responsive design and a bunch of stuff, I realise that it seems that nobody uses it. It feels like everything is based on templates, copy-paste, frameworks... It's not that I don't like it, I just feel lost.

What should I learn next to be up to date in web creation? I need front and back functionalitlies.

Thanks a lot

If you're amateur or if you're building a very simple system then you can use a template and just 'fill it in' so to speak.

If you're building something large scale, and you find a template that is close to what you want, then you copy it and make changes to it to save time.

If you're professional and nothing really comes close enough, then you may opt to use a 'framework' such as Bootstrap (many more) to speed up your development of the layout and build in the responsive design using convenient utilities that come with it.

Why would you hand craft things like utility CSS and media breakpoints when it is already there to be used for free instantly? It's because time is money. It is important to know how it works though, that is what sets you apart from an amateur.

Why would someone build from scratch if there's an exact ready made template for the purpose?

You can do a lot with HTML, CSS, JS, and PHP. Just remember that it could be useful to use stuff made by others rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.

I sucks in graphics so I always start on templates, but on backend I always write all from scratch, I hate also those huge frameworks like Laravel for PHP, so I just use the pure language with my classes.

I've never been good with design, graphics or things of that nature so I've always used pre-made templates or themes for things. When I first started programming/coding or whatever you wish to call it, I did my own CSS/html but they were always 1-2 colors, very... bad, I guess you could call it, so I don't really design my own stuff when it comes to graphics, templates, or whatever there. Don't get me wrong, using bootstrap, and my own knowledge in PHP, I am able to create a fully functional website, however, I much prefer using a framework of sorts so that I don't have to waste time re-inventing the wheel of user authentication, database abstraction and all that fun stuff.

Does Bootstrap count as building a website from scratch? I mean, it's there to make life easier so you don't have to do all the extra work of reinventing the css to display a hot looking nav-bar, or neat panel/card to display content. There's been many sideprojects I've had that I would just plop in Bootstrap and go to town rigging together different things to get the outcome desired.

When you start writing your own code, you can create a completely new and different design.
In spite of everything, there is no doubt that you will have greater freedom with the design of a site if you write the code from scratch.
You should contact top web development companies for your web development projects.

Its best to learn how to code from scratch. Once you get more comfortable, you can begin use frameworks and build your skillset. It'll be easier and you obtain a much firmer understanding of the material.
