Donkey Kong could whollop mario

If donkey Kong can hold his breath for so long, why doesn't he just drag Mario to the bottom of a lake

he doesn't like water. he wouldn't do it if he isn't drunk.

I mean base Mario yeah, but what is he has star power or fire flower?
