Elytra and armor

So roumors have been circulating that you will be able to wear an elytra and armor at the same time in upcomming updates. How do you all think it will work? Will an additional slot be added specifically for the elytra in the inventory? Any ideas?

This should've happened a while ago. I am suprised it is just happening soon. I think there will be an extra slot for elytra which MAYBE could support backpacks and other stuff.
