Is ether still a thing?

My buddy used to mine it but im not sure if its a dying cause to waste time on

Is any crypto currency still alive?

Thoughts?

I've never really been into ETH that much but since I do believe bitcoin will dissappear within the next 5-10 years, ETH will so too
