FastDL or Workshop for server ?

You don't know what you talk about. FastDL takes longer than WorkshopDL, WorkshopDL has a way better compression than FastDL. FastDL is nowadays only used to download fonts, nothing else.. The only other reason FastDL would be good is because others rely on the Steam Servers.

I would upload all Lua files to the server and have content downloaded by WorkshopDL as it is faster, and from my experience, mounts better than FastDL does.
I only use FastDL for files that should not be uploaded to the workshop or for some content that you get with downloaded addons (such as from GModStore) including fonts.

A common misconception is that the 'fast' in 'FastDL' means it's faster than WorkshopDL, when it doesn't have anything to do with the speed you download it necessarily.

FastDL for really fast download. It's betterthan Workshop

FASTDL and Workshop a good combination ,if the host machine is weak on the Internet it is best to use Workshop

Workshops are sometimes not down and I recommend FastDL !!!

I used to count that the workshop was better but after reading your comments I realized that I had been fooled all this time

WorkshopDL is better for those addons that are already on workshop submitted, for the rest, custom materials/fonts/etc, FastDL.

I prefer the workshop bc i dont know how fastdl works

Best bet is to place ALL of the Lua onto your server, and take the materials/models/sounds and what not into content packs via the workshop. FastDL is, yes - fast. However, i prefer WorkshopDL so players can pre-subscribe to the content and have open access to it. It's tedious extracting everything and reuploading it into content packs but it makes the collection for one, 10x smaller (in looks) and your lua will all be serverside so you can manipulate it at any time you need.

I've personally only used FastDL for a minuscule amount of files and it honestly wasn't worth it.
