FastDL or Workshop for server ?

I don't really know and I am looking for the same answers. Having a lot of issues with it though.

If you're in the West, the Steam Workshop is probably the best option. I live in Siberia, though, and the speeds are just abysmal here. But, in general, 99% of people are best off just using workshop; better compression, built-in CDN, easy updating, etc.

WorkshopDL is fast and easy to setup and it is the best for the server.

FastDL - bad, but faster. Workshop - good, but slower. I dont know, maybe FastDL better...

If you're going to host a server, and you don't have something like a 100Mbps+ synchronous line, then going with the Steam Workshop is a much better idea.
If you have some custom mods and things that can't be added to the Steam Workshop, then you can use both a Steam Workshop and a FartDL server.
It's always better to use Steam because if you package up things like custom textures, models and other things that you have downloaded from sources other than the Steam Workshop, and upload them, people with fast internet connections, often faster than the server can join far quicker than if you have just a FastDL server.
Also -- Depending on the country that someone connects from, it's going to be a lot faster because Steam has multiple places around the world that mirror downloads from the Steam Workshop.
If you're connecting from another country your download and upload speed is not always going to be exactly what you have in the local area or country.

It's only really faster if the players are in the same country as the server, and assuming that the server literally has a gigabit connection, to make sure that everyone can download at their max speed... then Yes...
Otherwise the better option would be to use Steams literally multigigabit network of mirrors for everyone to download big mods and addons at their maximum speeds.

Use workshopdl for everything except maps that aint on workshop. Using fastdl for workshop items is just dumb
