I Recommend You Using "MinerGate" You Can Download It To You're Phone Or You're Computer (I'm Using my phone) If You have Multiple Phones U won't Use them Don't Throw Them Away! Download MinerGate On Them And Start Mining Same For Computer!enjoy :D

This sounds interesting.
I have like 5 phones I don't use but kept as spare.
I have 20 plus computers sitting in my basement unused.

Is there any specific details the app requires before it works?

I would suggest not using MinerGate. They steal your hash and overall is not good. I rather use something like NemosMiner or MultiPoolMiner for automatic algo mining.
