I myself think the shift towards VR is cool. Especially with 4k capabilities. FPS and GTA like games could be rather insane but could potentially cause problems, pending on its realism and how it affects our psychology as humans.

VR will never become the future of gaming, at least not as of now. If the VR mechanics receive a sufficient graphics and mechanics inovations.

Something like Full-Dive from Sword Art Online would be amazing. You can already do kind of that, with a VR headset, one of those treadmill VR things, and the vests that do vibrate whenever you're hit in game, but a full on full-dive would be amazing.
